So since I was last here I have been very busy. I have made 3 dresses for myself, one for my daughter, 2 handbags, 4 canvas for our house, and lots of other bits and pieces; as well as my daughter going to Japan for a school trip and my son having specialist teaching sessions. One thing I haven't done a lot of is scrapbooking. However as the retreat is this coming weekend I thought I better do something. I found inspiration on the <a href="http://whitewith1.blogspot.co.nz/" target="_blank">"white with one"</a> blog.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
So lately I have been doing canvas art to decorate the walls of our new house. Mum asked me to do one for them as they have a wall that needed something. It had to be forest green to match the couches & lemon to match the curtains. So mum bought the canvas and supplies for me....my summer holiday project and my first commissioned art. Here it is completed, it is 2m high by 1.4m wide.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finished:<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFsdSyfee2o0OOnNff4YtGRmVVvUiFw3xI-Jmd3sP6zAoKNNXaXRcrCTuY7_yrfsBa-KyrPHHkKo5v5l5TIVPfoWUfqbPKzGd5Vo437uw-cNAia0w5324FhTu_QpbzAM2f5po-8KwyjVI/s1600/art+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFsdSyfee2o0OOnNff4YtGRmVVvUiFw3xI-Jmd3sP6zAoKNNXaXRcrCTuY7_yrfsBa-KyrPHHkKo5v5l5TIVPfoWUfqbPKzGd5Vo437uw-cNAia0w5324FhTu_QpbzAM2f5po-8KwyjVI/s1600/art+1.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mum and dad were asking about my process so I thought I would share it here. I have idea what the finished piece is going to look like when I start, it evolves itself, therefore I did not want them to see it while I was doing it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We bought a canvas screen to use as it was the cheapest way to get such a large canvas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So first I started by painting it black so I had a blank canvas to start with & to try to cover the green.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before:</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1oxEt6thU9cNVsLdcT89hIbe7uX_4tLP3fLXF2XR2loOuMLIMOq2KQ3BRO50dLoTc55Vug7sAxnirvBGztR9IUnqDMLP7NOVrpyylcJfbYUfHNazgBWvHQ6aJz9YilKWAjYJzT9R7Sq4/s1600/art+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1oxEt6thU9cNVsLdcT89hIbe7uX_4tLP3fLXF2XR2loOuMLIMOq2KQ3BRO50dLoTc55Vug7sAxnirvBGztR9IUnqDMLP7NOVrpyylcJfbYUfHNazgBWvHQ6aJz9YilKWAjYJzT9R7Sq4/s1600/art+2.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We have some tires out the back that they didn't collect during the hard rubbish collection & Dad is into motorbikes & cars so I tried to use the tire as a stamp into texture paint. Unfortunately it did not work, I think my paste was to wet, but because of the large size of the canvas it was difficult to judge drying times. Also the cat walked through the texture paint leaving nice paw prints (I tried to keep them as my parents their love cats). But I didn't like the stripes especially as it was being hung vertically now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Stripes: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinY10trm8uZdY0_aZL9CMtl_nJ2NmOfstjh7OpRkkha7dJhCbqU741idAfy0y7asNWy_87cno3OUWSpctnyCoAoieN8xetmlJB4AEC9Qd7jNp4JFTwCWibIxoPmEbPkZkHsggdGE9N704/s1600/art+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinY10trm8uZdY0_aZL9CMtl_nJ2NmOfstjh7OpRkkha7dJhCbqU741idAfy0y7asNWy_87cno3OUWSpctnyCoAoieN8xetmlJB4AEC9Qd7jNp4JFTwCWibIxoPmEbPkZkHsggdGE9N704/s1600/art+3.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have learnt about my own process doing this for them. I do personal symbolism. I can't just do something. So once I came up with the idea to put a symbol of mum & dad in the center of a circle & do some of their life influences in other circles it really started to get going. The concentric rings are like sound waves showing how mum & dad affected NZ, SA, car/motorbike stuff & church & how it affected them. To make theses circles I used the tissue technique that we learnt at camp one year. So it is not rope, but rather rolled up tissues & Modge Podge. I did look at using rope or cord but it was going to be to expensive & I was worried that it might not stick properly. I used the old pen on a piece of sting trick for a giant compass, hehe</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzmwNrpTPUPWSQEDkU8NOyQqbkelUL11T2wAzdtQ0BkCDcAf83geGfg0e9L5CNYe0j1D-yr4jwdsFhKupMx8K8ii8mdfxr8qAXtFx0HbWE2SwmwI6r4cNgbL4PbdB5yKNOp0fL3dv86ZU/s1600/art5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzmwNrpTPUPWSQEDkU8NOyQqbkelUL11T2wAzdtQ0BkCDcAf83geGfg0e9L5CNYe0j1D-yr4jwdsFhKupMx8K8ii8mdfxr8qAXtFx0HbWE2SwmwI6r4cNgbL4PbdB5yKNOp0fL3dv86ZU/s1600/art5.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then used a scrunched up single ply of tissue over the entire background of the 3 canvases & painted them black, except the center large circle which was white as it was going to be the yellow 'sun' center. Finally time to add some colour!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Cutting the chipboard for the tire track was not fun, it takes a lot of work to get through card that thick. But I am happy with how it looked in the end. This was the bottom left corner. </div>

<span style="text-align: center;">I was trying to blend the lemon to dark green through the circles, but I din't like how it came out. At this stage I hated & and wanted to throw it away so I left it alone for a few days. </span></div>

I was talking to mum & she mentioned wanting to sponge paint one of their walls & that set a spark off in my brain! of course! So I sponged over my hideous stripes with the dark green,much better. I didn't completely cover the colours under neath just blended them more. Then I decided to paint my rings solid green as they were getting lost. But now it was to green & not enough yellow so I got my scrapbooking stamps & inks out & stamped some bright yellows over the dark green, obviously they didn't show up a lot, just enough, I was pleasantly surprised when I added the varnish later & it brought out the yellows ink more looking very cool.</div>

Now it was to plain, it needed more...more something. One of the supplies we bought at the very beginning were some polished stones. We glued these along with some beads & some of my CD UTEE pieces into the first ring around the tire track & on the inside of the track, hopefully looking like the stones were driven trough. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Later we decided it still needed more so made a glue 'paint' of sand to fill the gaps, then I sprinkled it with giant gold glitter as you can never have enough bling ;-) Nicola loved doing the sand painting & also decided we had to sand paint the NZ corner also.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: center;">I had a tissue paper map from some Colorado shoes we bought years ago that i decided would be great down in the bottom right South African corner. (I miiiiggghhhttt be a hoarder of things that I am sure I will need sometime in the future.) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh4CjIogalNDszN5DxqznZRcscBi5EZ7xnB2v4l4ftKWE1LuoHo1cqtq9P5pfECVfzf9wbCUK8IwmFEdDOvcKOqB9XRSik8vvJ6T3lVLe0hYfg9ivUesFiq2oD17hytZF0BySr3YEH2xQ/s1600/art14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh4CjIogalNDszN5DxqznZRcscBi5EZ7xnB2v4l4ftKWE1LuoHo1cqtq9P5pfECVfzf9wbCUK8IwmFEdDOvcKOqB9XRSik8vvJ6T3lVLe0hYfg9ivUesFiq2oD17hytZF0BySr3YEH2xQ/s1600/art14.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course I had to cover the Colorado label with something....this was the first sneak peak I sent mum & dad.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmXLM-SqWb2mwgITrHR4F7ogBEZCZzZYcoqnt89VDraO9GziGJFhelSd5WI7kyjzZk-cPln2j3_aqhidZ-WeZhsWL7z79lAgqCxQ5LEB_bT97nsVmsynkNS2Zha-MTpzAWEUOF0EfZQlc/s1600/art15.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmXLM-SqWb2mwgITrHR4F7ogBEZCZzZYcoqnt89VDraO9GziGJFhelSd5WI7kyjzZk-cPln2j3_aqhidZ-WeZhsWL7z79lAgqCxQ5LEB_bT97nsVmsynkNS2Zha-MTpzAWEUOF0EfZQlc/s1600/art15.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To add more texture & layers I wrote some words around New Zealand about NZ & Mum & Dad, like all their different addresses over the years. I did the same with SA. Then I stamped over the top & lightly sand painted it as I didn't want it to be too obvious. Later I added Fimo ferns over the top (see finished photo) this was not my fave corner, but it was ok.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfRZZmCiWQU8Usf9cw0vBERxPrdpIrszcFRmKMqgz-vVwgw1-WcZwJj3-5Nc6yT3eiqRcGOj7fUXDv8Bq2L8eAGjZNLfmyq6Ds3KeYMFrzkmf5X4fS7dQTgX4Stu02GKZWinZjuIbclWg/s1600/art16.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfRZZmCiWQU8Usf9cw0vBERxPrdpIrszcFRmKMqgz-vVwgw1-WcZwJj3-5Nc6yT3eiqRcGOj7fUXDv8Bq2L8eAGjZNLfmyq6Ds3KeYMFrzkmf5X4fS7dQTgX4Stu02GKZWinZjuIbclWg/s1600/art16.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top right corner had a cross in the center of the circle. I decided to stick a metal foil cross over the top to make it 'more'. I wrote mum & dads fave bible verses around the circle. I just did my normal handwriting as that was part of the point that made it for them & they could recognise that. Then I stamped some green over the top of the writing, then came the fun part! Mum also wanted some red in the painting & what is red & goes with a cross? Splatter time! Some much fun! I decided I needed to do more splatter painting! Once the 'blood' was dry I added a gold ring (see final picture above)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheuNlsY2nztvxmXq5HhIfJbxCS3VAVUG6jzPiZrhRM80l-ih0S9O5ngO4bXbQUU9wJ9vs132Khx7DSfvONEbMSHTea8NclJrwiIqqJjWXlpDnMVfsmDGCg6p5Ib4LJMvQ8t2p_wr2BwqM/s1600/art17.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheuNlsY2nztvxmXq5HhIfJbxCS3VAVUG6jzPiZrhRM80l-ih0S9O5ngO4bXbQUU9wJ9vs132Khx7DSfvONEbMSHTea8NclJrwiIqqJjWXlpDnMVfsmDGCg6p5Ib4LJMvQ8t2p_wr2BwqM/s1600/art17.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did say more splatter! Part of my original concept was that mum & dad were the center of the 'sun' but I felt that was a bit lost, also needed more yellow & SPLATTER! Nicola & I had lots of fun with some bright yellow paint. I covered the center with wax paper first as I didn't want any 'rays' on the center of the sun. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: center;">It took ages ro decided on the final placement of the cluster of embellishments around the center, many, many trails. Not 100% happy with them still, but decided I never would be. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So finally after a month and a half Mum & Dad got their art & I got to park my car in the garage again!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
PS Sorry some of the pictures are the wrong way up, I dont know why the blog decided to do this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Scrapaholics had a fundraising crop day for Hand in Hand. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hand-in-Hand/138010523065589" target="_blank">Hand in Hand in a free beautician service for women with cancer.</a></div>

I had a great day with lovely ladies & I didn't get much done,but it got me inspired. These are most of the layouts I did at the crop & days following. </div>

Wall 1 finished! This is the internal wall between the kitchen & wall/entrance. Below is the kitchen side complete with real brick backing for the stove.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: center;">This is the entrance side. I inked the paper in an earlier post. I was originally trying to do 'wood' panels with gold highlights, but decided to go all out with the gold. It is only a dollhouse afterall. I used hubby fancy paints again & love the way the panels almost look like leather.</div>

I cut a hole in the subfloor to create a root cellar or Priest Hole under the kitchen floor. They featured in my fave series of books - The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I am not sure if it completely historical correct to have one but I wanted one. Originally I closed the gaps at the back properly, but once the floor is put over the top it is pretty dark so I figured the tiny bit of light might be good. The little Bible has only 6 tissue pages & no writing (baby wanted writing, but once the floor is on it wont matter) Same with the white blanket, I know it should be grey but I wanted the brightness. There is 'glass' to the front for viewing purposes.</div>

Back to work....</div>
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6899240944604690126.post-22899497397861636902014-01-19T23:01:00.001+13:002014-01-19T23:01:56.296+13:00The beginning.....<div style="text-align: center;">
I was so excited I opened the box at work, hehe. 3 packages inside but no instructions, just as well there is both a video & written instructions on their website. The first box contained a lot of little pieces, windows, chimney, the 3 stair cases already made up. Number 2 was the walls & number 3 was the floors & large roof pieces. The subfloor was built & taped together, I did wonder why until I shook it....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Yjuj5hWG3wOMFJIO0FYsFjhaSqI0HnQdngXS5TzwodSNFuy2rwbHUTUjEN0rTCAHlpdIN5M_ec3fanyqmhV2Hx1lECk03qUFEVI1OLS3OQnlt60UbVI-rFNMsI9hFsCoCWnLJisCM8M/s1600/dollhouse+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Yjuj5hWG3wOMFJIO0FYsFjhaSqI0HnQdngXS5TzwodSNFuy2rwbHUTUjEN0rTCAHlpdIN5M_ec3fanyqmhV2Hx1lECk03qUFEVI1OLS3OQnlt60UbVI-rFNMsI9hFsCoCWnLJisCM8M/s1600/dollhouse+001.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's like Christmas! (actually better) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZNW4cdD3fiZbcFLxaKMtetxa-mswej6V01eUVO7zNVQHF_lOjrfkmQOt_vnpDrRnkOn1Qd7B5VTbz4Nl1WIRyhBlkZjjBaM-cQaE_G5v89UF7F-dcoF_lXv2Bf8GeKP28MMFKyujCkDA/s1600/dollhouse+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZNW4cdD3fiZbcFLxaKMtetxa-mswej6V01eUVO7zNVQHF_lOjrfkmQOt_vnpDrRnkOn1Qd7B5VTbz4Nl1WIRyhBlkZjjBaM-cQaE_G5v89UF7F-dcoF_lXv2Bf8GeKP28MMFKyujCkDA/s1600/dollhouse+002.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The detail on the handrails is mind blowing, so fine I don't know how he managed to cut it without breaking them. The kit is made of 3mm ply & not easy to cut so I have re thought some of the modifications I was planning. (A dollhouse doesn't have to be weathertight anyway)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKTW96-oofF2CRsTZZOS7MV382MKLVDGYoGY8K5r4WpHWAKW4TTp_VrYULlkHq0C0jPwEsu8z7pUDn4irlvb6LYn0WjlgOtcIFOYtcyP3MeRp8SyXnVEcANHaJsAkzy6jkYerf698HZ0/s1600/dollhouse+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKTW96-oofF2CRsTZZOS7MV382MKLVDGYoGY8K5r4WpHWAKW4TTp_VrYULlkHq0C0jPwEsu8z7pUDn4irlvb6LYn0WjlgOtcIFOYtcyP3MeRp8SyXnVEcANHaJsAkzy6jkYerf698HZ0/s1600/dollhouse+004.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the subfloor painted. I am still waiting for my bricks to arrive so I can continue. I shall add the flock grass at the end so it doesnt wear off from handling. I have not decided if I am bricking the internal walls you see through the subfloor or not, it might depend on how good I am at miniature bricklaying. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBDwQVTxQeJG3O0VDKW1TYzbyZAYgg7On_O4PUTrmUTkF0vsbgKEqFz15w2fJfS4Hs_3SV6B-J8TvlQm8WXhLUFFgcSt7w82_zFVdeWg94R5qD5CtYXGspgGDIDStJPa0CLPSSquWjiO4/s1600/dollhouse+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBDwQVTxQeJG3O0VDKW1TYzbyZAYgg7On_O4PUTrmUTkF0vsbgKEqFz15w2fJfS4Hs_3SV6B-J8TvlQm8WXhLUFFgcSt7w82_zFVdeWg94R5qD5CtYXGspgGDIDStJPa0CLPSSquWjiO4/s1600/dollhouse+005.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The walls came with 'weatherboard' lines scored into them. I dont like this, I want 'real' weatherboards. So off to the model shop I went & now I have a mini saw, mitre box, & plastic strips (called Evergreen ?!?) to make weatherboards. They were really easy to do & look awesome!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I need to think of something for the roofing......ideas?</div>

Sooooooo.....I have ordered a 1/4" scale Victorian Villa from <a href="http://www.laserdollhouses.com/" target="_blank">Laser Doll Houses</a> in the States,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
typically it isn't due to arrive here until after I am back at work and I am impatient. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To keep myself entertained I have been buying wallpaper & curtain fabric for it. I also ordered the bathroom & kitchen fittings. I bought Kaiser St. Nicolas & Tea Party 6.5" pads. I loved some of the embossed paper but not the colour so I inked them, I love how they have come out. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the paper for the Master Bedroom on the second floor; before inking on left.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
& this is for the girls bedroom on the third floor:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihBbfAFTCsm8GYHCvVs8aJOED5OMMLfhnHdWyuiK-lLd1jl57o-bW9YzdjjTwtR_pBNXcDUoLQ5rrBRmGQ9YjDGmJjQ2rxUuxmxUrM3-WvVqxnFttle0rtG1uIXoUBse8OJY9X3idbXkM/s1600/dollhouse+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihBbfAFTCsm8GYHCvVs8aJOED5OMMLfhnHdWyuiK-lLd1jl57o-bW9YzdjjTwtR_pBNXcDUoLQ5rrBRmGQ9YjDGmJjQ2rxUuxmxUrM3-WvVqxnFttle0rtG1uIXoUBse8OJY9X3idbXkM/s320/dollhouse+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I decided to make a cool <a href="http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.com.es/2013/06/1-inch-scale-french-chaise-tutorial-how.html" target="_blank">french chaise lounger</a> I found on Pinterest. The instructions are for 1" scale so I just reduced them. It is just made out of card with texture paste to smooth layers. It is 2 layer of card, then one each side to form the details:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiurAv3jf-YBJBVDHJ8rRMEKZcaCnL42gcW_ueUjPlHFmjDokB2eET0KzMFyul68Jbh4IkcDui0v6SXQTFFwGmGmlNxk6bF5RlXRGRw1E8AsqOF36GUzuaf9zHgsXAVOaI3XKNgc93137g/s1600/dollhouse+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiurAv3jf-YBJBVDHJ8rRMEKZcaCnL42gcW_ueUjPlHFmjDokB2eET0KzMFyul68Jbh4IkcDui0v6SXQTFFwGmGmlNxk6bF5RlXRGRw1E8AsqOF36GUzuaf9zHgsXAVOaI3XKNgc93137g/s320/dollhouse+009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is it after sanding and undercoating. It is interesting how the macro lens picks up details I can't see with the naked eye. The base is 3 layers of card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQbEzU3HD6at8ZwXQLnM5ut4jegh6pdAB0y50Vs-h2wW-KPcbZYC3C5Hfzq4x0PJemX7mmC8jqIlylQJyLl2TrF7hYQPbFeDutL07SZqbqlZcgDWvyg6UeTbmR5TBYgZlewFX3GXl7hiU/s1600/dollhouse+014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQbEzU3HD6at8ZwXQLnM5ut4jegh6pdAB0y50Vs-h2wW-KPcbZYC3C5Hfzq4x0PJemX7mmC8jqIlylQJyLl2TrF7hYQPbFeDutL07SZqbqlZcgDWvyg6UeTbmR5TBYgZlewFX3GXl7hiU/s320/dollhouse+014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Basecoats. The paints are hubbys WarHammer colours. I followed their painting method.</div>

For the upholstery I decided to use felt to give a velvet type look. Also then I didn't have to worry about fraying. This is how I attached it, there is glue in there too. </div>

My mum asked me to make her a doorstop for her birthday, I was so inspired I did it straight way. Here is a<a href="http://efemera-ink.blogspot.co.nz/2010/06/wise.html" target="_blank"> link</a> to the pattern that I got from Pinterest. I made the 12cm dimension 31cm & it stands about 20cm tall. It is filled with sand & weighs 2kg. <a href="http://moonstitches.typepad.com/photos/tutowlrial/zakkaowls.html" target="_blank">Here</a> is another pattern for them I may try this one later...</div>

Now I am not a Rihanna fan, but it was challenge #49 on <a href="http://challengemehappy.wordpress.com/2013/07/01/challenge-49/" target="_blank">Challenge Me Happy</a> & I was stuck. When I read the lyrics I knew it would be perfect for a wedding photo. I am not sure if I am too late for competition, but thought I would share anyway.</div>

This is one of my fave sheets of paper, unfortunately I cut the strip off so I can't tell you what it is. I used my new Prima foam stamp I bought at SENZ. It isn't as clear as I wanted, but gives cool 3D effect, I mixed gell into the paint.<br />

I originally tried Pinkysil & resin to make me eye chips for my Blythe dolls as they aren't available here. Hubby got some amazing Warhammer wings in a set that I decided were mine for a Blythe idea I have, but he wasn't so keen to give them up so I thought I might try to make a mold of them. I worked out it would cost more to make a mold than buy a new Warhammer model, keep the wings & throw the rest away. This is what we ended up doing, sort of, he got a new model but I got the wings. Aren't they cool?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_98-IBbOWEWD37HdE9WAwIo3cgyvG2dDYV4iQ4v7FjrF6tUEstt3jpDXXJfZLIa9qJi85lD2A2BRTXYXIQUKtZaQrHBcvwj3IISMB8hMii7QHpAIdUWcpAHA60lb2gt209A79P7Jr24E/s1600/Blythe+wing.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_98-IBbOWEWD37HdE9WAwIo3cgyvG2dDYV4iQ4v7FjrF6tUEstt3jpDXXJfZLIa9qJi85lD2A2BRTXYXIQUKtZaQrHBcvwj3IISMB8hMii7QHpAIdUWcpAHA60lb2gt209A79P7Jr24E/s320/Blythe+wing.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So this got me motivated to start playing with my dolls again. I decided to redo the goth one I hadn't finished from last time I was motivated. I think I may have the mouth carving figured out, although I will probably forget before I do another one. You need to start shaping the lips from the central crease, work out & up to shape top lip (I hope that is enough to remind me for next time). Apart from the fact I worked that out too late & was working with very thin see through plastic I am much happier with my lip shape this time. I am definitely going to redo my other dolls lips sometime. </div>

Top Mark Products, the NZ importer of Pinkysil & heaps of other resin & other model making products has gone out of business. The week before they shut their door was a 50% off sale....I got some easy cast clear resin, a few resin tints & some Pearlex. I also got a mold for a ring & bracelet. Here is the bracelet I made using clear resin & kids coloured sand. I kept adding more sand because I couldn't see any...duh! Gravity had all gone to the bottom!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpmSMfuHTqazsCouHEtAVdS2wAhkAPuVSk6ndjZ3RNqofupfIReihYDbz_jbsYxEI5IEsoTLmr4RXHka7s4VhVV8IRSgG4Yo6_PSEjg2bO9IKCZAfnu_0qT7r5K_DqyNi_Tym815m2PLA/s1600/pinkysil-after-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpmSMfuHTqazsCouHEtAVdS2wAhkAPuVSk6ndjZ3RNqofupfIReihYDbz_jbsYxEI5IEsoTLmr4RXHka7s4VhVV8IRSgG4Yo6_PSEjg2bO9IKCZAfnu_0qT7r5K_DqyNi_Tym815m2PLA/s320/pinkysil-after-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They had already sold out of Pinkysil & white Easycast resin. Scotties Crafts still had stock so had to go for a drive............Pinkysil is so much fun to play with. I wanted Pinkysil to make a mold of one of Scott's Warhammer creatures wings, they were perfect for my Blythe doll but he wont give them up, hehe. The wings were not currently available for me to cast & I couldn't wait to play do I made some little molds. These are some of the things I used.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA6t73djG5nhN0iGx1ecOAJ_KOPYTGHQK5M_1xlF4lln-PPdiDT5bkrcBJtobHSFNG6gKvbcUhdNXGwR0La-YcZoHROG1h_Bem4vbM3HoqlBZ_W_VO4BEQoD1pUi-QR_wy93JnkflKqlM/s1600/pinkysil-befpre.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA6t73djG5nhN0iGx1ecOAJ_KOPYTGHQK5M_1xlF4lln-PPdiDT5bkrcBJtobHSFNG6gKvbcUhdNXGwR0La-YcZoHROG1h_Bem4vbM3HoqlBZ_W_VO4BEQoD1pUi-QR_wy93JnkflKqlM/s320/pinkysil-befpre.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are my 2 new molds....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiooSEyyfav_vsjV9PJndt7yKEHZ9B_GiyE6TGvtPOgKfVK4sX_x6gJB-vL2mb_6jPnw-VevZSk36azX6RIoeAPTgfhh1REd-8GmOcEDv85yHsDZZddv9tD3I-t6uXPm4vzyQdc1AZYTBA/s1600/pinkysil-molds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="119" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiooSEyyfav_vsjV9PJndt7yKEHZ9B_GiyE6TGvtPOgKfVK4sX_x6gJB-vL2mb_6jPnw-VevZSk36azX6RIoeAPTgfhh1REd-8GmOcEDv85yHsDZZddv9tD3I-t6uXPm4vzyQdc1AZYTBA/s320/pinkysil-molds.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and here is some of the things I have made in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately I think I wont be getting a wing cast. I think it would use 2 bottles of Pinkysil & therefore it would be cheaper just to go buy another one of Scott's Creatures keep the wings & throw the rest away. Pinkysil doesn't go very far, resin does. I got red, bright blue, turquoise & yellow resin colours. I am not sure why the dark green came out glassy. I painted the molds with Pearlex to get different colours & effects. See Tinker Bell's wings, the guitar, etc. Nicola has decided were are going to make necklaces at her birthday party with Tinker Bell, the guitar & the butterfly. I am so happy with how they have turned out that now I need to do some scrapbooking to stick them on!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How did it happen you ask....well.....It started innocently enough We were talking about the girls upcoming Mariners Regatta at a parent meeting when one of the leaders mentioned how good one of the other groups tents looked cos all the girls had matching blankets. They are very strict with tents tidiness etc & have inspections every morning at 9. So I pipe up & say that it wouldn't be that hard to make polar fleece blankets for the girls (this is 2 weeks until camp). Now as you know I am a perfectionist so refused other parents help. I had 13 blankets to make by camp & another 3 after. (The siblings who didn't need them for camp had to wait, and they still are....)The amazing team at <a href="http://www.centrepointfabrics.co.nz/" target="_blank">Centrepoint Fabrics in Newmarket</a> cut the blankets to length for me, which was very helpful. Then I played 'rat & letter' tetris with the expensive Visoflex (double sided fabric glue sheet). My bestie & my daughter cut them out for me. Unfortunately I am a dork & forgot about everything being reversed on Visoflex until after the cutting of the rats (luckily before the letters) so all the rats are back to front compared to the original design on the girls t-shirts. But that was tough! I was not redoing all that work & money. So I lived & breathed blankets for 2 weeks with my poor hubby in charge of feeding me & family, he was amazing! There were 'rats' and green fluff all over the house. They were completed the day before the girls needed them and (if I do say so myself) looked pretty good. Frustratingly once I delivered them I had other parents saying.."ooo how much are they? Maybe we should get one....." NO MORE UNTIL NEXT REGATTA!!!!!!! (Easter 2014) I just need to finish the 3 sibling ones now cos they have already been paid for, but no more orders!</div>

This LO was 90% done for the white plus one February challenge when tragedy struck our extended family & I was unable to complete it in time. I really like the way it has turned out so thought I would post it anyway. The chipboard background was a purchase from the retreat I went to at the start of this blog!! I was always waiting for something 'special' to use it for, well my baby is special :)<br />

We are related to the guy who was killed in the shark attack of Murawai beach. As soon as I heard about it on the radio I thought "I wonder if...." but thought the chances that it was him was so slight I put it from my mind. So when we got the call later that evening I was in shock. Such a horrible tragedy I was speechless & in shock for days, I just could wrap my head around the fact that he was gone. I mean what are the odds? Now that beautiful little girl has lost her adoring daddy & Meg has lost the love of her life so soon after finding him. IT'S NOT FAIR!! There are so many scumbags in this world, why him? I know life isn't fair, I tell my kids that often, but still....<br />

I love this photo, and the conversation that went with it. I have been wanting to scrap it for ages but wanted to do something special. I saw the <a href="http://challengemehappy.wordpress.com/2013/02/01/challenge-39/" target="_blank">Challenge Me Happy competition #39 White Space</a> & decided it was perfect inspiration.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
On my blue paper I first I mod podged some strips of newspaper under the area for my photo, then i added some dimensional stickers & crackle glaze, then gesso painted over everything. I wiped the paint off the dimensionals before it dried. I did rub it into the crackle glaze. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided it still needed more texture so added some texture paste to edges & top left corner. I know my spelling & grammar is bad, but i was short letter stickers.</div>

<span style="text-align: center;">I have been making Xmas pressies lately, hence why I was so quiet on here</span><span style="text-align: center;">.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMdLgiPPqM1oNQxPCd7L-de1fNKzXCyxVP-DPM_ARwcHjBSCop2D3b8FSfnFJ3bEDrqOSRlhARm_98r4NNMiIJb93T02ZJFFgpvJ05YQJlIEL-VhNYPQSOoiEhfDsHzGJ6ri5HRbarLrM/s1600/creeper2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMdLgiPPqM1oNQxPCd7L-de1fNKzXCyxVP-DPM_ARwcHjBSCop2D3b8FSfnFJ3bEDrqOSRlhARm_98r4NNMiIJb93T02ZJFFgpvJ05YQJlIEL-VhNYPQSOoiEhfDsHzGJ6ri5HRbarLrM/s320/creeper2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made the Creeper wall art at camp earlier this year. The light shade was more difficult, not many square light shades available. Daniel is very happy with his 'new' green room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBFaX7DBR_4iZNYr8tCqCfzWjPPn8_6LP4tE35SrbutUW5RCNLKzYFj7Mt03ahWJjlq1XaUdd834pkzXCidsnU0IylM_B8d5Rc1-w1gUFSaVWj6Ip8vu5kOMLF71k93htz_8omAfmzus/s1600/furby.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBFaX7DBR_4iZNYr8tCqCfzWjPPn8_6LP4tE35SrbutUW5RCNLKzYFj7Mt03ahWJjlq1XaUdd834pkzXCidsnU0IylM_B8d5Rc1-w1gUFSaVWj6Ip8vu5kOMLF71k93htz_8omAfmzus/s320/furby.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We got Nicola a Furby for Xmas & I made her a 'doll suitcase' for it (& her iPod to live in. It took ages to make, but she is happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-Fyk8s9NbS_Efb7ZT0qqLkf4SDO75poS0YWRKo0tTy_3TMURgu0KmRlVuiL0rA_UOIb_j1aqwUp4yLtqCOa2FTWqJ5d__inXtdOkWW-tM_PhRBpwOL3UHBbzPBxILJslGgLyq5btUnaM/s1600/nicolabasket.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-Fyk8s9NbS_Efb7ZT0qqLkf4SDO75poS0YWRKo0tTy_3TMURgu0KmRlVuiL0rA_UOIb_j1aqwUp4yLtqCOa2FTWqJ5d__inXtdOkWW-tM_PhRBpwOL3UHBbzPBxILJslGgLyq5btUnaM/s320/nicolabasket.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also got her rings for the swing-set "the best present ever" She got a certificate for consistent effort at gym this year. She also got a certificate at school prize giving for academic achievement which we weren't expecting, she is so clever!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Daniel also decided to save his best for last, producing work that blew the teacher away on the last day at school when it was to late to count! He directed,edited, produced & was camera man for Xmas production for his area (about 90-100 kids). He does like telling other people what to do, hehe.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been very tired & over worked for the last few months. I have not had the energy or inspiration to do any scrapbooking, but i am hoping that over the Xmas holidays I will get some energy back. I want to scrap, but it just feels like work ATM.</div>
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have no idea what paper it is, I have had it in my stash for as long as I can remember. First I clear embossed the background with my Star Wheel from Stampin' Up! Then I painted over it with white acrylic paint & wiped it back off before it was properly dry. I think it looks cool & I might have to do this technique again. Then I used gesso through my Tim Holtz mask & painted over it red.I ripped the hole for the pic & peeled as much paper off the back as I could so the curls were while, not green as other side of paper. I used Tim Holtz walnut distress Ink on applicator to do some spot thingys & make it less 'clean'.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cluster in the bottom corner is a Prima wheel, a stamp, some buttons & beads, piece of cork tile, art sand, a brad, mini razor wire (Warhammer, thanks hubby), the electronic thing from something & some old Basic Grey Chipboard stickers.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a fob watch thing I got from Spotlight to hang on my handbag. It didn't work as expected. The plastic cover was really difficult to get off & not sure how you would put it back on, but what is the point if you can't open it to put something inside? I accidently filled the hinge with dimensional magic so had to take the cover off. Still looks ok & does the job I wanted.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know she is a fake, but she is for my baby & I was interested in the differences between the very expensive 'real' Blythe dolls & a fake. A 'real' Middie is 160USD & upwards, not including postage, this one was 20USD including postage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hmmmm....I think a lot got lost in translation......Not how I would describe a Blythe.....</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
First impressions. She was selotaped into the box!!!!!!!!! So she has sticky stuff on her legs. She has ball jointed sholders which is not right, but cool. She has tiny extra bits of plastic from molding on her hands & bottoms of feet, easy enough to remove. Her hips are so well jointed she has difficulty standing up as her head is to heavy! Knees don't bend. Do those look like Blythe flat feet??? However will be easier to get her new shoes I think. The dress was hideous & went straight in the bin. She is 8" tall like the 'real' one.Hair is ok, but planning reroot anyway. </div>
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: black;">This is exciting! Her eyes change colour. The 'real' Middie eyes only go side to side. Colours aren't bad either. Green/Turquoise; grey; blue/purple; pink.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: black;">I can't wait to pull her apart later tonight.</span></div>

Do all these count as OTP projects? Can't get any more off the page than a bed!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Nicola got a new bed for her birthday & wanted it painted rainbow. So each draw is a colour of the rainbow & the base is her fave pink. I think it worked well & she is very happy. She has even made her bed properly every morning since she got it.</div>

It is now the centerpiece of our dining room table. Thanks to Louise for the birds. The paper roses are Kaiser & the bird cage is Twiddleybitz. The velvet leaves are from Spotlight.<br />

While I was a Spotlight looking for something unrelated i saw that patterns were on sale. I accidently collect fabric but it just sits in the cupboard. Baby needed a new sweat shirt & pants & when I saw the patterns. She chose which patterns we were buying & what I made. I wanted a sweatshirt, she wanted the poncho. She loves the trackpants & barely takes them off. The dress fabric I bought when we lived in Napier. I finally made the Creeper face for the back of D's sweatshirt. He is very happy.<br />

I made this little Teddy bear from a Scrapbooking stencil, it is felt. It is small enough to be posted to my B.I.L. for his baby. Don't tell them, it will be a surprise!<br />

What is this? A Layout??? I know I am shocked too. I have been trying to finish sewing before I start on scrapbooking again. (shhh...I still have I more teddy to make) I took these photos of my boy when we were away last school holidays & I love them. They are just so him. This LO came together quiet easily as I have heaps of stuff i have got over the years for his gaming pages. The paper is DCWV Generation Tech & the stickers are Jodie Foster.<br />

These photos are from our trip to South Africa when I was a kid. It took awhile for me to be happy with it.
